Coin sorter for the sorting of mixed coins in terms of diameter, and which comprises a sorting track 4, whose bottom is provided with a plurality of sorting holes 3a, 3b, ., 3n, which are arranged in a row in the direction of advance of the coins and have incrementally larger width in this direction, a sorting belt mechanism 5 arranged to transport the coins on the sorting track, so that they fall down into the sorting holes in order of increasing diameter. The mechanism 5 comprises a plurality of belt support elements 19a, 19b, ..., 19n+1, placed on the sorting track 4 and arranged to support a corresponding number of belts 20a, 20b, ..., 20n+1, whose direction of travel slopes at a predetermined angle in relation to the lengthwise direction of the sorting track 4, and each of which partially overlaps the next following belt. The coin sorter is characterised by an element for removal of bent coins, which blocks the sorting track, said element comprising an arm 25a, 25b, ..., 25n+1 that normally extends essentially over each coin on the sorting track 4 and can swivel in order to enable easy access of the coin during transport when the arm is swivelled about its pivot 26a, 26b, ..., 26n+1.
