carburetor has a main and an aux. intake passage (1,1') for a lean and rich mixt., respectively, and is provided with a choke valve(2,2') in each passage. A control mechanism for operating the two choke valves(2,'2) includes a lost-motion connection so that the main choke valve(2) is at the lst. to be moved toward closed position, for cold starting of the engine. The control mechanism may be operated either manually or automatically under the control of a bimetal element. when the starting engine reaches a state of complete firing, withstable rpm, both choke valves are opened to the predetermined pull-down angles.
