Sealed flask with curved walls and a vertical gelose layer - for microorganism culture esp. in blood analysis

Flask has a flat side wall coated with a 2-15 mm. thick gelose layer. This face being linked with the other adjacent faces by an acute angle. Flask is generally rectangular and adjacent walls are curved at the gelose face to form an arc of radius 15% of the min. gelose thickness. Flask has self closing neck and contains a liq. culture medium and a sterile atmos. Sample is mixed with the medium in the flask which is inclined to wet the gelose layer. Flask is then positioned out of contact with the liq. and culture is allowed to proceed. Flask is esp. used for bacteriological analysis of blood (Castaneda metod). It avoids inadvertent detachment of the gelose layer and its symmetrical shape is suitable for machine handling.
