Liquefied gas tank for tanker - with cylindrical containers supported in welded honeycomb structures

A number of cylindrical long containers, made of Al, are supported by structures of honeycomb shape. Each structure consists of annular collars which are stacked above each other in honeycomb fashion: the voids between them are filled by triangular gussets with concave sides to suit the collar radius which are welded to the collars. This eliminates the welding of conventional oval Al tanks on site and gives the maker a choice of prefabrication or of welding on site. The welding of the new support structure causes no problems.
