PURPOSE:A resin composition for hairdressing that contains a copolymer obtained by copolymerization of specific polymerizable vinyl monomers, treating the copolymer with a salt of halogenated acetic acid and removing the precipitate formed, thus being suitably used for aerosol type hairdressing. CONSTITUTION:The copolymerization of a mixture consisting of 20-60wt% of compound of formula I or II (R1 and R5 are H, methyl; R2 is 1-4C alkylene; R3 and R4 are 1-18C alkyl; A is O, NH), 30-70wt% of a compound of formula III (R6 is R1; R7 is 1-18C alkyl) and 0-50wt% of other polymerizable monomers is conducted in a hydrophilic solvent. The resulting copolymer is modified with a halogenated acetate sodium or potassium salt and the precipitate formed is removed and, when necessary, the copolymer is treated with an ion-exchange resin to give the objective resin. The resin product has high affinity to hair and good hairdressing performace and can be readily removed by shampooing. |
