Cosmetic compsn. contains, in a carrier, >=1 copolymer (A) derived from (i) 1-30 wt.% N-vinylpyrrolidone, (ii) 13-87 wt.% vinyl acetate; (iii) 2-15 wt.% crotonic acid and (iv) 1-80 wt.% >=1 fourth monomer. Component (iv) is esp. of formulae CH2=CH-OCOR1 (I); CH2=CR3-CH2-OCOR2 (II); CH2=CHOR4 (III); CH2=CH-(CH2)nCH3 (IV); or Cyc-(CH2)p-COO(CH2)m-CR3=CH2 (V). In the formulae R1 is 2-21C alkyl; R2 is 1-21c alkyl; R3 is H or CH3; R4 is 4-18C alkyl; n = 3-15; m and p = 0 or1, when p = 0 cyc-mono- or poly-cyclic (un)satd. ring, esp. 1-adamantyl, when p = 1, cyc is R6, R7-substd. phenyl. t = 0 or 1; R6 = H, CH3, C2H5, tert. butyl, ethoxy, butoxy or dodecyloxy. R7 is H, 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy. Used esp. in hair lacquers and aq. waving lotions. (A) has less tendency to flake off than resins of FR. 7016821 (terpolymers of high N-vinylpyrrolidone content).
