A method for providing diagnostic services for a device comprising: generating an ontology with a server, the ontology including: a diagnostic model having a plurality of diagnostic concepts at least including faults, symptoms, causes, and solutions, and defining relationships between each of the diagnostic concepts; anda plurality of diagnostic data relating to a device model corresponding to the device, each diagnostic datum being associated with at least one of the diagnostic concepts; storing the ontology in a memory, the memory being accessible by the server; receiving a diagnostic query from a user of the device via an input device, the input device being operatively connected to a user interface, the user interface being connected to the server via a network; identifying at least one diagnostic concept that is associated with the diagnostic query by searching the ontology with the server; and outputting the identified at least one diagnostic concept and diagnostic data associated with the identified at least one diagnostic concept to the user.
