<p>The larger stop valve is particularly for use in power stations, being of the double-plate sliding wedge type welded from pressed or forged metal plate components. The sealing faces are supported on pipe inserts, and there are lugs on the rear sides of the sealing plates for engagement with ball-socket joints. The lugs are independent annular bodies, secured by weld seams which can be tested, to the rear face of each sealing plate. They have annular external grooves for engagement by clamping pins, and their free central chambers form the bearings for thrust pieces fitted in them.</p> |
