The heat exchanger pipe has external flow guide fins (4) fitting closely round it, so as to generate flow right the way round the outside surface. The pipe is preferably mounted in a housing with guide plates to reduce flow losses, and it can be secured by a flange to the housing, so as to allow extraction from the latter. It can have an inner tube (6), extracted from an outer one (5), after the flange joint has been released.
