PURPOSE:To reduce the iron loss of electromagnetic steel plate by leading the directional electromagnetic steel plate into the strain giving device and giving linear micro- strains to the steel plate surface by the strain-giving rollers provided with steel balls. CONSTITUTION:The coil of an electromagnetic steel plate is un-coiled by an un- coiler 2 and is guided by guide rolls 4 to enter a pit 5, where the leading end position 8 of the loop of the steel plate is maintained in a correct position. Next, it is led into a strain giving device I, where while it is being given proper tension by brake rolls 12 and pinch rolls 18, it is formed with linear micro-strains continuously on its surface by strain giving rolls 14 without being stopped, whereby the iron loss of the electromagnetic steel plate is reduced. In this case, plural rows of dug grooves are formed at a fixed spacing parallel to the lengthwise direction of the roll bodies and in the axial center direction. A plurality of steel balls arrayed in the lengthwise direction of the roll bodies are disposed in these dug grooves and are pressed in the radial direction of the roll bodies so that continuous strains are formed on the steel plate surface when put in contact with the steel plate surface, whereby the iron loss is reduced. |
