The internal combustion engine speed limiting controller is applicable to vehicles with a manual gear change. Its purpose is to limit noise emission from the vehicle, partic. in built up areas. The speed limiting effect is achieved by suppressing individual ignition impulses when a preset engine speed has been reached thus preventing any further acceleration. In order that increased engine revolutions are available in an emergency a switch is provided in the control circuit to cut out the limiter action. A signal lamp on the exterior of the vehicle indicates that the vehicle is operating in the unlimited, emergency power, mode when the switch is closed. The detector and limiter are typically electronic circuits and may, for example be switched into service only in the lower gears.
