Parent patent, discloses a process for improving polyolefin, polyester or rubber, but esp. crosslinked polyethylene article quality, by introducing or applying an inert gas into material layer and/or on article surface. In this addn., the article is treated above its utilisation temp. at or above crystallite m.pt. range, e.g. 140-300 degrees C. Inert gas penetration is quicker and/or diffused inert gas atom quantity is increased.
