The hydraulic linkage acts as the lifting mechanism for a load support on a frame mounted on a tractor. It comprises one or more booms (5, 9) swinging up and down on the frame (2). A linkage (37, 38) automatically lengthens and shortens the booms during upwards and downwards movement respectively. A locking device (42, 43, 45) automatically cuts out this mechanism over a predetermined lower portion of the path followed by the booms during the up and down movement.
