In order to improve navigation in spatial regions without the availability of satellite navigation signals, a method (100) is proposed for determining the position of at least two, preferably mobile, navigation units (201, 202, 203), wherein characteristic navigation state variables and accuracy information (211, 212, 213) for the characteristic navigation state variables are stored in each of the navigation units, a distance measurement (205, 206, 207) is taken of a spatial distance from at least one of the navigation units to at least one other of the navigation units, a signal is transmitted, at least from at least one of the at least one navigation units, at least to at least one of the at least one other of the navigation units, which signal contains, as navigation information, the characteristic navigation state variables with associated accuracy information, and the spatial distance to the at least one of the at least one other of the navigation units with associated accuracy information, and new characteristic navigation state variables with associated accuracy information (221, 222, 223) are defined from at least one of the navigation units from the characteristic navigation sate variables with associated accuracy information and navigation state variables of at least one other of the navigation units, the distance of the two navigation units to each other and the associated accuracy information. |
