The device is used to fix a demountable masking plug (6) in the open end of a tubular metal furniture member (1). A sleeve (3) with a threaded bore is welded in a member wall bore, locating a bolt (4) and a split (7a) hollow pin (7). The plug comprises a head (6b) with rebates to a reduced stepped spigot (6a), the latter entering the member end to be secured when the pin enters a wall bore (8). The bolt is wound into the sleeve to drive the pin home, and may be incorporated on a caster (5).
