PURPOSE:To enhance the resistance to light and to water by using a specified fluoan compound as an electron-donative color former. CONSTITUTION:After reacting, for example, a derivative of 2-(4-amino-2-hydroxybenzoyl)benzoic acid with a derivative of 4-anilinophenol in the presence of a dehydrating-condensing agent, the reaction product is put into iced water and then neutralized. The neutralized product is recrystallized, to obtain a specified fluoran compound which is an electron-donative color former. The fluoran compound is dissolved in a solvent such as alkylnaphthalene, and the solution is then emulsified by the addition of a solution of gum arabic or gelatin as required. Then, the pH of the solution or emulsion is adjusted to obtain a microcapsule dispersion, which is coated on a substrate such as paper and dried. The thus obtained recording paper was excellent in resistance to light and to heat and did not undergo self-coloring during its storage. |
