<p>PURPOSE:To produce a substrate laminated with vertically and horizontally orientated layer on a substrated by providing a horizontally orienting agent layer of organic base on the vertically oriented layer on a substrate and plasma-ashing this to a pattern shape. CONSTITUTION:Surface treatment by a silane coupling agent, vapor deposition of SiO, etc. are applied on a trasparent substrate 1 to form a vertically oriented layer 2. Next, an organic-base horizontally orienting agent (polyamino resin, polyester resin, etc.) is coated on this and is then dried, after which it is rubbed in a fixed direction by a cloth and is thereby horizontally oriented; thence this is covered thereon with a metal mask of a predetermined pattern, after which it is subjected to plasma ashing treatment in an atmospheric atmosphere to allow the horizontally orienting agent layer 3 of a desired pattern shape, whereby the substrate for display is formed.</p> |
