The device which is advanced with the aid of a medium flowing in the pipeline has a rotating cleaning head (3) which is equipped externally with cleaning tools (33). For its rotational drive by means of the pressure medium flowing in the pipeline, the cleaning head (3) is arranged with a shear head (5) consisting of a plurality of flexible discs (22 - 25) connected axially one behind the other on a tubular shaft (4) through which the pressure medium flows. Said shearing head (5) consists of a hollow ring (14) which is connected to the internal space of the tubular shaft (4) and has a flexibly designed circumferential part (12). A plurality of circumferential openings (27, 28) in the tubular shaft (4) and the cleaning tools (33) which are mounted on the circumferential part (12) of the hollow ring (14) and have inclined surfaces here form the rotational drive. <IMAGE>
