A strip 12 is unwound from a coiled strip assembly 14 in which adjacent coiled strips are interconnected by spaced tabs 20 intermittently bridging the parting lines 18 between the adjacent strips. To break the tabs 20 without bending them and distorting the adjacent metal, a finger-like body 26 acts on the opposite side of the strip to the tabs 20 to be broken and generates sufficient stress in each successive tab to break it. <IMAGE> |
