PURPOSE:To decrease central segregation by applying mechanical high-speed vibrations to the molten part of the ingot drawn out from a continuously casting mold and further stirring the same through electromagnetic induction. CONSTITUTION:An ingot consisting of a molten part 2 and a semimolten part 3 encircling this is drawn out from a mold 1, and is led by pinch roller 4 groups which are provided in pair. Thereupon, a percussion machine 5 which is driven by a high-frequency power source is provided to apply mechanical vibrations to the molten part 2 via the pinch rollers 4. Thence, the molten part 2 is electromagnetically stirred by the electromagnetic coil 6 provided after this. Consequently, the leading ends of the columnar crystals growing within the molten steel are parted by the percussion vibrations and the leading ends of the columnar crystals parted by the electromagnetic induction stirring serve as nuclei in forming isometric crystals, whereby the occurrence of central segregation is effectively prevented. |
