The refrigerating unit comprises a compressor, a condenser, fans, an evaporator fed by a device (30) which carries out an expansion regulated by the level of the liquid emerging from the evaporator. The device comprises a cistern or tank (40) for collecting the liquid emerging from the evaporator; a float (64) is integral with an arm which is articulated at a point in the tank; a second arm (70) integral with the first is fixed to a shaft (72), one, widened head (74) of which interacts with a narrow passage (76) in an expansion block (50) of the device to regulate an expansion opening for the feed fluid of the evaporator according to the position of the float, that is to say the level of the liquid in the tank.
