The vegetable crate made from cardboard, is erected from a flat blank folded up and secured with adhesive. A central rectangle forming the base (1) has two flaps which fold up to form the ends (4) and two side strips which fold up to form the sides (2). Each side strip terminates in a shaped projecting tab (6) which, when bent upwards and inwards, reinforces the corner. An ear forming part of each tab is bent over horizontally to form a load supporting surface at the corner, to support the weight of a crate stacked above it. A rectangular extremity of each tab projects upwards above the level of the end wall (4) to form a locating lug to ensure that the crates will form a stable vertical stack.
