PURPOSE:To easily insert an assembled element having a great compression degree into a container without damaging the element, by enclosing the assembled element in a bag of a synthetic resin, evacuating the bag, and inserting the bag with the assembled element into the container while maintaining the reduced pressure. CONSTITUTION:An assembled element 1 consisting of positive electrode plates, negative electrode plates, separators and glass mats, whose lower portion expands outwardly along the length thereof, is inserted into a flexible bag 5 made of a synthetic resin such as polyethylene film or the like. Then, the air in the bag 5 is discharged by a vacuum pump so as to permit the assembled element to have a predetermined compression degree by the reduced inner pressure and the atmospheric pressure. Thereafter, the bag 5 is hermetically sealed by heat-sealing the same. After putting the thus-enclosed assembled element 1 into a container, the bag 5 is broken to expose the assembled element 1 to the atmospheric pressure and then an electrolyte is poured into the bag. |
