<p>PURPOSE:To remove NOx at a high rate of removal by treating an NOx-contg. gas with reducing-agent-contg. treating liquid then treating the same continuously with an aqueous alkali soln., oxidizer-contg. liquid and an aqeuous alkali soln. CONSTITUTION:The waste combustion gas contg. NOx is treated with the liquid contg. 0.01% a reducing agent such as sodium sulfite, sodium bisulfite, sodium thiosulfate or the like, whereby NOx is redued to NO and is reacted with the coexisting NO2, to form N2O3. The waste gas contg. much of this N2O3 is readily absorbed away by the treatment with an aqueous alkali soln. However, with the waste gas of a relatively high content of NO2, it is once subjected to reduction treatment, after which it is absorbed with the aqueous alkali soln. When NO is more than NO2, the gas is further treated with liquid contg. NaClO2 as an oxidizer to oxidize NO to NO2 and allow it to react with NO to N2O3, after which again it is absorbed away with an aqueous alkali soln., whereby the rate of removal of NOx is improved.</p> |
