<p>The chalet has a regular polygonal plan form, its substructure being constructed from standard precast reinforced concrete components. A structural concrete floor (1) is cast in situ. and defines the plan shape, locating a central tubular column (2) which may dual as a chimney stack. Bent rectangular section joists (7) with appropriate longitudinal tapers extend from each corner of floor slab to the corresponding corner of the column head. Standard wall panels fit between the legs (7A) of the joists, the arms (7B) receiving standard thermo-insulated roof claddings overlain by shingles or tiles. Radial joists (3) may also be incorporated, supporting a first floor accessible by ladder.</p> |
