<p>The benzyl alcohol deriv. of formula (I) in all stereoisomeric forms is new. They are made by reacting corresp. alpha-cyano cpds. with H2S in the presence of base. (I) is an intermediate, by reaction with acids, for esters (described in FR 2491465) having insecticidal, acaricidal and nematocidal activities. (I) is prepd. by reacting a cpd. of formula (II) with H2S in the presence of a base. Pref. the base is Et3N and reaction is carried out in an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent.</p> |
