The connector uses a box between two end covers. These are used to secure the end plate on the tube vertically around the box. This box carries the high tension contact which has a sloping nose forced against the grid on the tube, and also the EMT contact. This has an extension to which is attached the earthing wire. The high tension contact also has an extension for the high tension wire. The box passes through an opening in the end plate on the tube, and is then protected by the two end covers. The whole is locked together by resilient locking arms on the first end cover and further arms on the other cover. These pass through rectangular openings in the end plate on the tube. Another design uses a rod shaped connector which fits into a circular opening instead of using a connector with a sloping nose. |
