The system is used in the reception area of a professional practice and comprises a NODAL central unit in which all operations of switching, automatic action and the like are carried out. The NODAL unit is coupled to other video elements such as a television set, video tape recorder, video camera and the like. These elements can function only within the system by their connection to the NODAL unit but may be operated normally, when disconnected. The system can be extended to other communication sources such as control screens, audio units and loudspeakers with the NODAL unit at the heart of the system. The NODAL unit has three sections, alarm, surveillance and sound sections, and the admission part of the system includes a microphone which generates a signal in the loudspeaker when a client arrives.
