The device for storing or packing loose objects comprises a series of container elements, each having a bottom wall, upstanding side and end walls, and an open upper side. The elements are connected to one another by hinge joints arranged between the side edges of the bottom walls to form a continuous row of elements. The row of elements can be spirally rolled-up into a block of prismatic form in which the open upper element sides are closed-off by wall portions of other elements lying inwardly in the block. The outermost element of the row, forming a base on which the rolled-up block can rest, has an increased width equal to the total width of the block and an increased height so as to form a receptacle of relatively large volume. |
