The method involves identifying an interval of frequencies of interest in which inaudible frequencies representative of acoustic shock waves generated by rupture of fibers of wood material. An acoustic transducer (2) i.e. piezoelectric transducer, whose frequency associated with resonance belongs to the interval of frequencies of interest, is selected. An acoustic signal collected with the transducer is processed to detect the presence of energy peaks representative of an acoustic shock wave generated by the rupture of the fibers due to activity of xylophagous insects i.e. Punctatum Anobiidae. The interval of interest is defined by frequencies ranging between 70 KHz and 1MHz. An independent claim is also included for a system for detecting activity of xylophagous insects in structure formed cellulose fiber material such as wood material. |
