The method involves increasing a charging state of a battery to an intermediate level (101), and measuring capacitance (102) of the battery. The state is increased (103) to another intermediate level, and another capacitance of the battery is measured (104). The state is increased (105) to a final level, and charging loss values for the two levels are determined (106). A difference charging loss value between the two loss values is calculated (107). A capacitive or resistive aging value of the battery is estimated (108) based on the loss value of the former level or the difference value.
