Eye refractometer having a feedback system which is formed by a refractive power detecting device and a veiling device. The eye refractometer comprises a position detecting device for the purpose of generating an alignment signal only if the body of the device is in a position in which it is possible to measure the refractive power of an eye which is to be examined. In addition, a device is provided for the purpose of rendering the feedback system operational as a function of the alignment signal.
