The razor blade (18), which remains continuously sharp in use, consists of a hardened steel tape (10) which is sharpened at at least one edge (12). With the aid of a dispenser, the steel tape possesses a special shape which enables the ground edge to lie on a substrate (25) in a manner such that handling during the shaving operation is facilitated. The steel tape can be pushed continuously out of the dispenser and is provided with weak points so that the blunted end pieces can be broken off as necessary. The dispenser simultaneously forms a storage container for the broken-off pieces. <IMAGE>
