The electrically operable, hydraulic control valve is operated in the opening direction by an electric drive mechanism and in the closing direction by the hydraulic pressure medium flowing back. Use in fiery areas in underground mining makes it necessary to limit the electric power fed to the electric drive mechanism to 10 watts. To nevertheless be able to produce the requisite high power for opening the valve, the electric drive mechanism contains an energy accumulator, preferably in the form of a compression spring (9) which is preloaded by a tensioning mechanism (11, 15; 12, 16) driven by means of a low-power, electric geared motor (19). The tensioning mechanism (11, 15; 12, 16) abruptly releases the energy stored in the compression spring (9) to open the valve and then, to close the valve, clears the closing path for the closing body (4) of the valve by releasing an abutment (10) supporting the compression spring (9) for a displacement in the closing direction. <IMAGE>
