In an automatic conveyor installation for transporting a predetermined standard pallet, carrying a workpiece in a fixed positioning, between a magazine and machine tools, a conveyor trolley moving along a track laid on the floor is provided, in order to transport the pallet between a loading station located at the side of the magazine and an automatic workpiece-exchange device provided on the machine tools, the conveyor trolley having an orienting device for positioning the trolley at a predetermined location on the floor and a further device for supporting the pallet in a predetermined position. The automatic workpiece-exchange device is equipped with a pallet-positioning device which guides a conveying face provided on the underside of the pallet, and the side faces by means of stops, so that the position of the pallet can be controlled directly during its transport from the loading station to the conveyor trolley. Finally, a pallet-orienting device is provided, in order to place the pallet onto the table of a machine tool, the pallet bearing with a reference face on the table for its exact placement on the table.
