A push button switch for electrical calculators, magnetic audio tape recorders, radios, and television sets, having a moving, domed contact disc as the moving contact element and its opposite stationary contact elements arranged in the housing, the switched-on state being initiated by pressing the contacts, and the switched-off state being initiated by reversing the curvature of the contact disc as a result of its intrinsic elasticity, and a sliding element which is provided with a push button being placed laterally on the housing, and having the object of reducing the structural height of the switch and improving the finely sensing switching of the contact reversal, the contact disc has parts in the form of edges on both sides. These parts lie parallel to the displacement direction and the edges are bent or inclined in such a manner that the resistance produced by the shape of the disc and of the edges increases with increasing displacement movement. <IMAGE>
