A hose cutting apparatus, in particular for cutting so-called high-pressure hoses, has a rotary cutter (2) for this purpose. The hose moves in steps according to the cut length until it is past the cutter (2), substantially in the direction of the axis (3). At the moment of the cutting operation, in which the cutter (2) cuts through the hose, a relative movement takes place between the cutter (2) and the hose. The apparatus is equipped with a hose-carrying, -guiding and -feeding device for conveying the hose relative to the cutter and for producing the abovementioned relative movement in the radial direction of the cutter (2). The carrying and guiding device (control members 34, 35) are adapted to the cutting point in such a way that they can bend the hose towards the cutter (2), producing a tensile stress at the bending point such that the cut is opened, thereby reducing the frictional forces on the cutter (2). The carrying and guiding device (control members 34, 35) comprise two tubular devices (34, 35) through which the hose is guided. <IMAGE>
