PURPOSE:To increase the liquid-leakage resistance and the life performance of a sealed lead battery by interposing a non-woven fabric, which is made of synthetic fiber and used as an electrolyte holding member, between a positive and a negative plate, and adding a specified amount of a tackifier to the electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:A non-woven fabric, which is made of synthetic fiber such as polypropylene or polyester and used as an electrolyte holding member, is inserted between a positive and a negative plate prepared by use of grids made of a lead alloy containing calcium. In addition, a solution containing 0.5-3% by weight of a tackifier such as SiO2 or Al2O3 is used as an electrolyte so as to constitute a lead battery. Due to SiO2 used as the tackifier of the electrolyte, the fluidity of the electrolyte is suppressed, and the electrolyte can be held almost still. Consequently, the liquid leakage of the battery is prevented when the battery is used at any positioned state, and the life performance of the battery can be increased. |
