Contained in the print head is a cavity in which writing liquid, e.g. ink, is contained. Two electrodes which can be connected to high voltage are arranged in the cavity. In this case, a spark discharge is formed between the electrodes (10, 12), which produces a pressure wave through which a droplet of the writing liquid is ejected through an opening in the cavity. The cavity is formed in the first electrode (10) which has a U-shaped cross-section and whose central part is provided with a slot (30). The second electrode (12) is mounted in a support (32) made of insulating material which has a projection (34) which can be inserted in the slot (30) and seals the latter off tightly. Fastened on the central piece of the first electrode (10) is a printing plate (36) which closes off the slot (30) towards the outside and is provided with an opening (18) through which, during spark discharge, the droplet of writing liquid thus produced emerges towards the outside. <IMAGE>
