The process for sealing and stabilising a tubular sleeve consisting of cellulose hydrate, preferably with a fibre-paper inlay, and a water-impermeable and oxygen-impermeable layer of thermoplastic applied to the inner surface thereof is carried out by storage of the layflat tubular sleeve directly after drying of the applied coating. In this process the layflat tubular sleeve, after drying, is deposited in a container, layer for layer, in layers leading back and forth in a zig-zag-shaped manner, then the container is rotated through 60 to 120 DEG , preferably through approximately 90 DEG , the axis of rotation extended essentially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the deposited tubular sleeve and the tubular sleeve is stored in this spatial arrangement.
