摘要 <p>A posterior chamber lens (10) including a plano-convex polyethylmethacrylate (PMMA) optic (12) and two smooth, monofilament, curved, flexible loops (14, 16) attached to and extending from the optic (12). Each of the loops (14, 16), also of PMMA, is angulated 10o anteriorly from the plano surface (18) of the optic (12). The optic (12) is reversed such that the convex surface (22) is posterior and is provided with positioning holes (44, 46). The PMMA decreasing radius loops (14, 16) and optic (12) provide for a flexible, lightweight and edge-thin lens (10) and loops (14, 16). The PMMA loops' angulation and plano-convex optic design vault the lens away from the iris. The positioning holes (44, 46) are situated at 12 and 6 o'clock positions and are of a predetermined desired size. A second embodiment of the PMMA lens (100) includes PMMA loops (104, 106) which are substantially parallel to the planar surface (108) of the lens (100). A third embodiment of the PMMA lens (200) includes PMMA loops (204, 206) which are 10o anteriorly from the convex surface (212) of the optic (202). A fourth em bodiment of the PMMA lens (300) includes closed PMMA loops (304, 306) which can be angulated from the surface of the lens (300). A small loop (48) can be provided at the end of each open loop (14) of decreasing radius. The loop (50) can reverse or fold back and secure to the optic (12). A geometrical member (52) can be positioned at an end of each loop. One loop can be open and another loop can be closed. The loop can be dialed into position by the junction between one of the loops and the optic (12). The loops attached to the optic (12) can be identical with respect to each other or assume different geommetrical shapes with respect to each other.</p>
