<p>The mower is designed to cut down weeds in cultivated areas such as vineyards where the plants are in rows, using a portal sub-frame (1) to suspend cutting tools and to straddle the row being treated. The tools are of a rigid (6) and a flexible (7) rotating variety, the former leading cutting operation and being held clear of the trunks (3) by co-axial overhead discs (13). The flexible tools make contact with the trunks and cut the growth between adjacent plants in the row. The disc may be substituted by an elastic probe and the flexible rods may operate at a higher level, the tools being arranged in longitudinally offset mixed pairs (4,5).</p> |
