The ground to ground weapon fires a missile whose final effect is active while the missile is flying over the target by dropping the charge downwards. The missile is provided with a target detector which causes the pivoting of the charge above the target to create a 'shower' effect. The electromagnetic target detector comprises a transmitter-receiver (28,29,29') situated on either side of the missile charge. A large diameter transmitting coil (28) which is light and of small cross-section is situated at the back of the missile and two receiving coils (29,29') lying at 90 degrees to each other are situated at the front of the missile. The coils are as far apart as possible, and as rigid as possible to minimise the effects of vibration and flight noise.
