The invention relates to an absorption-type silencer having an integrated resonator chamber with an inlet nozzle leading into the resonator. In such a silencer, not only particularly good silencing values but also a longer service life are obtained because the life of the absorption material is improved by the equalisation of the flow of exhaust gas and the lowering of the temperature in the buffer chamber.
