In the case of press rollers for chat rollers in the oil mill industry, which press rollers are composed of a hollow operating cylinder and a roller spindle which penetrates the latter, there is a danger that material will be subjected to impermissibly high loads at the points at which the roller spindle emerges from the operating cylinder. These high loads are avoided by means of a design in which the roller spindle (2) does not have any contact with the operating cylinder (1) at the ends of the latter, even when loaded, but in which the operating cylinder (1) and the roller spindle (2) are only connected in a region which is situated some distance from the end faces of the operating cylinder (1). Power is then only transmitted at the connecting points. Two clamping points (3) can advantageously be provided between the roller spindle (2) and the operating cylinder (1), dividing the latter into three approximately equal lengths. <IMAGE>
