Cover grate for use in animal stalls, in particular in pig pens, for the removal of liquid manure, with longitudinal bars which expose between them longitudinal slots and which are interconnected by transverse ribs running transversely or at an angle thereto, in which the longitudinal bars have a horizontally lying disc-shaped or lens-shaped cross-sectional contour and a downwardly directed reinforcement web, and the dimensional ratios between width and thickness of the longitudinal bars are 6 to 1.6 - 2.2 and between width of the longitudinal bars and thickness of the reinforcement web are 6 to 1.0 - 1.5, and in another embodiment as slotted grate with parallel-running mutually offset short longitudinal slots for the passage of excrement.
