The brake system comprises a pressure control device, which produces braking of the wheels as a function of the drive conditions. For this purpose diagonally arranged pressure governors, which have valve devices, are connected in a certain way into the respective diagonal brake circuits of the brake system. These valve devices control the pressure to the wheel brake cylinders, so that a pressure admission to the front and rear wheel brake cylinders variable by the magnitude of the longitudinal and transverse acceleration of the vehicle can be performed.
