The present disclosure pertains to a data processing device and a data processing method with which it is possible to more effectively elicit the performance of an error correction code by using a time interleaver. This data processing device is provided with a time interleaver in which, for individual memory units, which are units for writing data into memory, cells that include data corresponding to a prescribed modulation scheme are discontinuously rearranged, whereby interleaving in the direction of time is performed. The present disclosure can be applied to, e.g., a transmitter for performing time interleaving. |
