The cable curtain of antennas is clamped by a clamping device in which at least one clamping cable (24) which carries the cable curtain and runs via cable rollers (26) at the top end of a supporting structure is loaded with a hanging balancing weight (35). In order to reduce the sensitivity of the cable curtain to sag under the influence of an external load which is below a predetermined limiting value, and in order furthermore to avoid a continuous maximum load on the antenna components, it is proposed that the hanging balancing weight (35) be connected by means of an easily pretensioned flexible coupling piece (41) to a further weight which is preferably placed on a foundation. The hanging balancing weight (35) can thus be dimensioned such that it balances approximately the intrinsic weight of the antenna system and holds the cable curtain in the desired position in the absence of an external load. The weight (38) which is placed down can be dimensioned such that it is lifted off its base (32) if a predetermined external load (wind, ice load) is exceeded. <IMAGE>
