摘要 An optical fibre transmission cable has a prestressed reinforcing element (11) with a modulus of elasticity of (27.6-41.4) . 10<6> kN/m<2>, a bending modulus of (6.9-39.3) . 10<6> kN/m<2> and a coefficient of linear thermal expansion of approximately 5 . 10<-6>/ DEG C; it comprises a glass fibre roving (18) which is impregnated with synthetic resin and held under (mechanical) tension by the synthetic resin. The reinforcing element (11) and an optical fibre (15) are held inside a synthetic resin cladding (16), and the reinforcing element (11) supplies the required mechanical stability properties without the provision of an electrically conductive material in the cable. The invention also provides a method for producing the reinforcing element and the cable. <IMAGE>
